6 Things to Love About Vibrant Central Tacoma
Why did our clients who live in Central Tacoma choose to live there in the first place? And what do they love about it now? We share 6 things to love about vibrant central Tacoma.
Unbeatable Convenience
It should come as no surprise that Central Tacoma is smack dab in the middle of the city. That means you’re convenient to just about everything! Close to downtown, to the waterfront, shopping and major freeways. If you like your errands done before your Valhalla or Bluebeard coffee gets cold, this is your spot.
Central Tacoma Eats and Entertainment
Bordered by the lively 6th Avenue district, neighborhood residents can walk to an ever-changing lineup of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques. We talked in a previous post about some great places to eat in this area.
Central Tacoma Historic Homes, Affordable Prices
Love the charm of North Tacoma’s tree-lined streets and vintage architecture, but not the price tag? The area offers many of the same vintage of historic homes-at prices that leave room in your budget for things you might enjoy using nearby, like kayaks and snowshoes to name a few!
Strong Sense of Community
The neighborhood is known for its friendly, tight-knit vibe, with events like Porchfest-where nearly 100 bands perform on front porches-bringing folks together. Residents rave about the genuine connection and neighborhood pride.

Outdoor Spaces are 1 of the 6 Things to Love About Vibrant Central Tacoma
Franklin Park is… well… central to this central area! It’s a great place to throw a frisbee, walk the dog, or have a picnic on a warm summer evening. Tacoma Nature Center and the trails around Snake Lake are a hidden gem. I jog there at least one morning each week and always marvel at the sun rising over Mount Rainier from one particular vantage point. I also marvel that I often have this natural space to myself! Allenmore Golf Course is nearby. And one can jump on the Scott Pierson Trail here, running all the way to Gig Harbor.
The Commute is Easy Like Sunday Morning
Whether you work at one of Tacoma’s hospitals, downtown, or need to zip out to Seattle, Central Tacoma’s location means you’re minutes from I-5, Highway 16, and public transit-including the Tacoma Link Light Rail.
Matt K speaks glowingly of where he lives. “Our neighborhood is diverse and friendly,” he tells us. “We’ve lived in a variety of urban, suburban and small-town communities over the years and have never felt more at home.”
