Is Home Staging a Good Bet?

It is impossible to quantify the payoff of staging. Each experiment tests only one course of action, because either the house was staged or it wasn’t. We are left to gut feel. Did this staged house sell for more than it otherwise might have? 94% of agents polled by the National Association of Realtors say staging causes homes to sell for more. The Hume Group agrees, based on our personal experience selling staged and un-staged properties. We discuss why it works in this video.

Exceeded Expectations

The house featured here sold in a few days with six offers. It fetched a bigger price than any previously sold comparable home. Not only that; the winning buyer paid cash and waived inspection! Even in this environment of low inventory this result exceeded expectations. Besides the staging, it also helped that this seller prepared for success. He had the house professionally painted, cleaned carpets, made some repairs and deep cleaned. It looked fabulous. Six buyers agreed! We do not recommend staging in every situation. Some occupied homes show very well without it, but in many situations staging is a good bet.
